Hand painted with gouache/tempera- colours and pencils - this is the way a Panorama grows centimetre by centimetre, tree by tree, each house, each street: all the numerous details are painted with finest brushes.
But first the artist designs a rough sketch which is the base for the final product. Besides colours and brushes the most important working materials are topographic maps, satellite-images, digital elevation models (DEM’s) and perspective models. Out of these main materials the general surface is modelled by drawing. The right-angled map screen therefore has to be transformed into a perspective model. Different possibilities of perspective projections are available.

1. Fixing a projection in consideration of natural aspects like mountains, valleys, cities, lakes, etc.
2. Tracing out surface-model by interpreting contour lines. The surface grows as a result of light and shadow which are painted like in an oil-painting.
3. Adding vegetation, waters, streets, etc.
4. This drawing will be presented to the customer in order to check its completeness.
5. Now, with the customers agreement the coloured original will be developed based on the black and white drawing. All in all the development of a Panorama Map takes 3 months time.
